Gila Monster - September
One day we heard our dogs going crazy in the backyard. We could tell they had something cornered and soon figured out it was a huge gila monster.

Nick decided to try to remove it from the yard before the dogs killed it or got hurt. He managed to catch it, then he brought it inside the house! We all got a good look at it before we released it back into the wild.

It refused to leave the box when Nick tried to dump it and when he forced it out it charged at him hissing. I am pretty sure he jumped a little:)

The next day we found a dead baby gila monster in the backyard again. Bear had killed it and was playing with it! That makes 4 gila monsters we have seen in our yard. They are actually quite rare so we must be situated in a prime location for sightings. Lucky us!

Good thing we have these two to look out for us. So far, in addition to gila monsters, they have had run-ins with rattlesnakes, skunks, and javalinas too!
