Grave Robbers Ride - May
A little bit of background on the idea...
A friend of ours read an article in which a group of guys bought old beat up motorcycles and took them on a ride. In other words they "robbed the graves" of these motorcycles and got them back on the road. The rules were that each rider could only spend up to $1,000 on the bike. That includes purchasing the bike and any repairs. The fun was that the bikes would inevitably break down and need to be repaired on the road. Sound like fun anyone? Well apparently it did because a bunch of guys decided to partake.

A little background on Nick...
Nick has ALWAYS wanted a Harley. Since he was old enough to know what one was he has dreamed of owning one. For some reason this "Grave Robbers" trip inspired him to start making a real effort to get one. I kept telling him that it was cheating to buy a nice Harley for this trip but he persevered. I think you will remember a past post where he "accidentally" won one! His friends were kind enough to overlook his breach of the rules and let him come on the ride anyway.
A little background on the plan...
The plan was simple - ride up to the new Gila Valley temple and attend the open house. Along the way we met up with a few more riders. Here is everyone on the side of the road.

As you can see I am the only girl:) The other wives drove behind in their car and met up with us when we arrived. They offered me a seat in their car and seemed shocked when I told them I wanted to ride with Nick. I am pretty sure they thought I was crazy. That brings us to my lovely outfit. Nick and debated long and hard about what to wear and whether or not to change clothes. What could we wear that was comfy enough for the ride but appropriate for the temple? In the end I was told in no uncertain terms that I would NOT be taking time to change clothes. In light of this I gathered the ensemble you see pictured - a dress over jeans. This way I was prepared to walk through the temple, but I didn't have to change... just slip my jeans off.

Last but not least... Bro. Carmichael taking Nick's bike for a spin.

Great biker chick outfit. Love It!
I have to say I love the outfit! And I'd so ride on the back of the bike! Ride on Sista!
PS Heard you were SO much fun on the hike and from both of my parents! I never doubted that! ;)
i love that we have the same dress! and that is sad about the chicks and ducks, but i'm glad you kept blythe despite all that :)
Jacie, LOVE the dress =)
The "Grave Robbers" sounds like the "Le-Mons" (a take on the Le Mans in France every year) that james wants to do! The concept is to take a beater car from the junk yard (in essence or an old old old clunker) and you fix it up to it's in running order and race it in a 24hour race - just like the real Le Mans! If your car is "too nice", they demolish it on sight! crazy huh.
