Camping On Spring Break - March
This year on Spring Break we decided to take the kids camping. We invited Grandpa Porter along and he found us a great spot next to a little creek.
The kids started exploring the creek right away.
I bet it comes as a surprise that within minutes Rand fell in:) One pair of clothes down.
He put on his PJ's to warm up and wait for dinner.
A few weeks before Channing had a run in with a cactus. At the time we thought we had removed all the needles from his feet. I guess we thought wrong. While we we were setting up camp he kept complaining that his feet hurt. When I finally checked them out I realized that some of the cactus needles had broken off and been left behind. The bottom of his feet were covered in sores. Channing refused to let anyone but Grandpa dig the needles out. They sat for a long time and dug out the remaining needles and cleaned out the sores! Not fun:(
Fire for foil dinners
Nick getting dinner ready.
Donnie checking on dinner.
Nick enjoying his DP
The kids having a pre- dinner snack which, thanks to their dad, was ding dongs!
She fell and dropped all the red vines
Blythe was so dirty that first night it was kind of amazing!
Getting ready to go shooting the next morning.
After a while Blythe found shooting a little boring:)
Exploring the creek on the way back to camp
They spotted a little frog
Grandpa helped them catch it
They spotted a beehive in this tree too
We were planning on spending another night, but sleeping the night before had been a little cold and miserable... at least for me. I ended up in the front seat of the car trying to get warm with Blythe crawling all over me. Nick was in the backseat of the car sleeping until we got in and woke him up. I am pretty sure I woke Donnie up when I accidently turned the headlights on him at 3 AM:) We had fun but decided to head home a little early.
Blythe fell asleep while we were packing up camp.
